The FastStream™ SC 8200 is a high-performance, scalable RAID controller that sits between multiple workstations and JBOD storage to deliver data protection for applications in DVA and IT infrastructures including digital film production, high-definition video post-production, digital pre-press, imaging, disk-to-disk backup, audio post, email compliance, data warehousing, data mining and transaction based environments. FastStream enables small workgroups to implement a shared storage workflow without the need for a Fibre Channel switch.
The FastStream SC 8200 was designed to address demanding performance requirements while providing reliability and data protection. The FastStream features ATTO's Advanced Data Streaming (ADS™) Technology which manages latency by providing controlled acceleration for smooth data streaming. Normally, disk drive head contention limits performance by not providing enough constant bandwidth for large streaming data transfers, ADS Technology eliminates contention issues to provide optimal performance.
The 8200 RAID controller allows you to create shared storage using SAS connections already on your workstation eliminating the need to occupy valuable PCIe slots. By using onboard SAS connections* to network storage, up to 16 workstations can share up to 256TB of storage. Installing the FastStream is easy – the SAS connection is brought out to a back-plate on the workstation where it is connected via a SAS cable to the FastStream SC 8200. Multiple workstations are then connected and have shared access to external storage providing a collaborative workflow.
Unlike the competition, ATTO RAID products have a tunable rebuild feature to provide full application performance during drive rebuilds enabling continued work while the RAID group repairs itself.
